Timber preservation and Damp Proofing
Timber preservation and damp proofing carried out by us:
- Damp proofing (rising, penetrating)
- Condensation control
- Timber treatments for insect attack (common furniture beetle etc)
- Timber treatments for wood rot (wet and dry rot)
Dampness in buildings can be a contentious issue with suspected rising damp being the most misdiagnosed damp problem found on residential properties. Dampness will usually be detected via a highly sensitive electronic moisture meter. This is the usual none destructive method and the practice which surveyors and valuers take on. However, it can’t tell you where the dampness is coming from and how damp it is. This needs careful consideration and time to fully assess, possibly involving more intrusive drilling and testing to be certain of the problem.
If damp is causing a problem it should be dealt with; if left alone, further issues can arise and in some cases lead to more serious and more expensive remedies.
AC Surveying and Property Care can provide you with a survey (usually none destructive to begin with) which recommends any remedial treatments or the next course of action.
